Sadly Amethyst is completely unusable on my device, so it's not something I'll recommend to others. I'm not sure why either. My device isn't the most powerful specs available but I don't see any reason for a sd712 paired with 8gb of ram to struggle with using it. I've tried every nostr client I could find for Android and Amethyst is the only one that lags to the point of being impossible to use. Maybe I'll give it another look in the future if I notice an update aimed at optimizations or performance fixes.

Nostros is my client of choice. Plasma looks nice but is missing features currently, I could see it being a good choice in the future.
Plebster could be a good choice but isn't open source. I don't use it for that reason but if that doesn't matter to you, it could be worth a look as well.

If it works for you, then stick with it for sure. I'm not bashing Amethyst, lots if people enjoy using it and it's arguably the most popular Android client available. It's just not usable for me and I can't recommend something I'm unable to use. That's all.
