just had a conversation with a former ny diamond dealer i met at the gym. he says that the lab grown diamond industry is so wild right now that there are a flood of supposedly "mined" diamonds that are so good they are probably black market lab grown.

everyone is doubting all diamond these days due to black market labs creating amazing stones and destroying diamonds as "forever store of value"

traditionally lab groom diamonds needed to have a LG inscription buried in the stone, but so many of the diamonds now flooding the market are missing this subscription and seem too good to be true

he thinks that there are some Chinese labs that have created lab grown diamonds with boron so they fluoresce blue unlike lab grown, which fluoresce red or green. Apparently many diamond dealers have vaults of these questionable diamonds that are passing spectrometer testing originating from chinese dealers

I bought my wife a lab grown diamond for like 1/4 of the cost for a “real” one. One of the best purchases ever, still looks great after almost 7 years.

Does she know?

Yup, it was her idea lol

We call that “a keeper” 😁

If lab grown means less destruction of the Earth, less exploitation of workers and a cheaper price without compromising quality, then I’m all for this and I’m a woman who quite likes a pretty jewel.

I’m also all for the dismantling of power associated with “managing the scarcity”

of diamonds.
