I will share a pet peeve with you. It drives me crazy when people say "America" or "Americans" when they speak of the United States and/or it's citizens. AMERICA consists of North America, Central America, and South America. Canada and the United States are in North America.

So, while citizens of the United States are all Americans, not all Americans are citizens of the United States.
