I cut my own hair before my 6th birthday. I really wanted a fringe so I cut one myself and hid my hair in a Barbie backpack under my bed. If I remember correctly, mum found it and chased me with a wooden spoon. She always did that. She was so angry all the time, she used to scare me. That being said, it’s hard being a single mum. She did her best and I’m very grateful for that. Also high five to little me for being brave enough to do it. That’s pretty badass for me, I was so timid. I think it looked okay tbf. If my kid ever cut their own hair, as long as they were safe I’d think it was cool. They tried to do something for themselves. And if they fuck their hair up, it’s okay cos it will grow back. Live and learn. I have their back either way. In the meantime I’ll help them fix it and we’ll go buy cool hats to wear together.
