NGU becomes toxic when it crowds out consideration of BTC as freedom money. When you start to list out the detriments of a centralized currency under central bank control, from abstraction of financial markets (hyper financialization) that leads to boom-bust equity/business cycles, to censorship, to economic repression via debasement, to profit on the back of taxation-funded R&D being privatized, to the military-industrial complex and money laundering on a global scale through war (ok the latter two are not just about the currency but you get it), you realize that there are bigger problems out there. Realizing your personal dreams is important, I’ll never tell someone how to spend their sats, but cypherpunks and ogs understand that this is a technology that can serve the world by displacing everything I listed above. If you interact with this technology by simply holding it and lustfully imagining the materialistic benefits it may one day bring you, in the face of the above, that’s literally stupid.
