What is full RBF? In S14 E4 of the Bitcoin Takeover podcast, I’ve asked RBF creator Peter Todd and Bitrefill CEO Sergej Kotliar what they think about the issue. Since they hold opposite views on the matter, the episode turned out to be a debate with a lot of back and fourth action from both parties.
In a nutshell, full RBF is an ideologically-motivated approach which gives the sender of the bitcoin complete control until the first on-chain confirmation occurs. This means that the user can “cancel” a transaction (resend it to himself by paying a higher transaction fee) or accelerate the confirmation by providing a greater incentive for the miners to pick the transaction.
