Trying to understand more about ordinals and inscriptions. If you say every Bitcoin is fungible with every other bitcoin, like a dollar bill, isn’t an inscription like putting a serial number to track that dollar bill?

Every sat can be traced anyway. Saying Bitcoin is fungible isn't entirely true. Funds can easily get blacklisted for having been associated with a wallet address tied to crime for example.
I believe inscriptions in the future will be used the right way for example like if someone wants to enscript their identity on to the timechain for verification. I mean that's a possibility. I'm no expert but I think they're using it the wrong way they're using it to trade. I don't think that's what it was designed for but I'm no expert. Because the Tech has always been there just never used...
