Somewhat controversial quote, but I thought I’d share it anyway 🐶🐾🫂
Every country has the government it deserves.

Ooof. I want to disagree. But i cant.
Not my words, but I do see how one could arrive at that conclusion 🐶🐾🤔
Yeah. I think i found a good argument against this statement.
This is only true when the relationship is consensual. Many government/people relationships are not like that.
This is like saying it’s the victims fault, if someone gets sexually assaulted, is it their fault?
For example, look at Syria, they tried to change their government, look what happened. You cant blame the people for that.
Just my two cents.
Can’t disagree, but that government comes from the people as a nation. I get all the nuances, but still 🐶🐾🤔
Painful. But difficult to ignore.
Here we s the context, I think. 🐶🐾🫡
All these constitutions, considered in themselves and in their avowed purpose, are but vain attempts; for it is an essential axiom as certain as a mathematical one, that every nation has the government it deserves; thus, everything we can do for a nation before we better it means nothing and has no effect, or only negative ones; but if we look on these constitutions as political mesures able to appease, to lead, to please, to entertain, to deceive even (for often we must) the imagination of peoples, they deserve all sorts of praise.
👍
Its not controversial its true, for liberal democracies. The rise of the “nationalist” movements in lib democracy is in direct contrast to a majority feeling their privileges contracting.
All truths tend to be controversial in modern times 🐶🐾😭
I agree to some extent. Makes sense for democratic countries. But for theocracies or dictatorships it doesn’t. In the west, you can protest, but for regimes like Iran or North Korea, no one deserves that type of government
Nothing is measured in absolutes, so yes. But all of that came to be at some point due to the complacency of the people. 🐶🐾🫡
Do you think bitcoiners are complacent towards government ? Since we keep saying elections are useless, buy bitcoin instead. Not arguing just curious about your opinion
😉👍
Saying is not enough, unless actions are taken. You just sell differently propaganda in their eyes, and expect them to buy it. You know the saying, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. 🐶🐾🫡
Totally agree on saying is not enough. To be fair, I’ve never heard of a politician who meets their electoral promises. It’s mostly all talk to get elected. That’s true across the whole political spectrum. The voters have been fooled twice over and over again. 🤷🏾♂️✌🏾🫂
