WORD OF THE DAY: "0-DAY" or "zero-day"

zero-day - a name for exploits/malware/viruses that rely on unpatched vulnerabilities in software. They abuse monopolistic/centralized nature of internet (as most people use the same software such as iOS, android, windows, macOS). Zero-day attacks can also be used to attack the internet of things (IoT) such as smart fridges, light bulbs,

wi-fi routers, smart watches, home cameras, thermostats, intelligent control systems, etc.

Famous "pegasus" is a malware reserved only for governments.

0-days are available for companies/groups, rich individuals & governments, too.

Prices:

"Zero-day exploits that grant access to a chat application, web browser, or email can be valued at up to $500,000.

Whereas zero-day vulnerabilities that allow access to someone's phone without any user interaction can command prices all the way up to

$2.5 million."
