I think there can be a middle ground. WoT can be useful, but not as a shield isolating the "cool people" from everyone else. Also, it can't be driven by wishful thinking - assuming someone else will deal with all the pesky new users and follow the right people to join their relays. When I have to use means other than Nostr to get in touch with the very people running popular WoT relays because my notes don’t reach them, it’s certainly worrisome.
