Unpopular opinion?

Trent Reznor and NIN are exceedingly overhyped.

Eh, that's not unpopular with me.

Obviously, the guy kind of did his own thing, and that's impressive, but just seeing how Johnny Cash took his somewhat mediocre song and then just turned it into a masterpiece kind of shows you the difference. Maybe Resner's ideas are interesting, but I also am not into the whole Screamo Industrial thing.

Helped people remember Gary Numan

I'd agree. Good, but way over hyped.

Tron: Ares album was not as great as expected.

It's easy to lose sight of who was first after 30 years of copy cats. How many bands do you listen to who list NIN as an influence?

Probably a lot. That doesn't mean my opinion can't stand. I personally used to be a fan but I have moved beyond the period in my life where I connected to his music. So, I see him as a phase and not lifelong favorite band material.

Maybe it will come back around. As an example, look at fight club. I loved it, thought I outgrew it, now I love it again but see it in a different light.

I'm also very aware of separating skill and creativity from personally moving me. Rush is a great band but I don't care at best and typically find them annoying.

Maybe, but he also revolutionized music in a ton of ways that are still underappreciated.

They have like 3 songs that arenโ€™t same-y.
