The two years preparing to move off grid had alot of staring at a screen and writing.

i tried to think like a programmer.

Abstract each need.

shelter

power

water

waste

heat

refrigeration

break each need into its own segments. i.e.

power:

generation

storage

delivery

spend a week studying generation.

spend a week studying storage

spend a week studying delivery

formulate a rough draft of what kind of a system you think you might want.

study to see if anyone has done it before. talk to them and/or watch their videos, read their posts.

keep notes. walk away when its too much and do something light.

get back at it.

do this for every sector. look up and realize almost two years have passed.

at this point, i ordered large battery cells from China and constructed my first battery system.

I ran in for a while, learning.

Then i built a complete system. solar panels, main battery, secondary batteries, charge controller, etc.

Because i spent all that head twisting time working through it for 2 years, it kinda turned out as a masterpiece. IMO.

Honestly i had not considered how hard what i did actually is until this note. and there is ALOT i havent mentioned.

That makes a lot of sense to break it down like that. Kind of like eating an elephant. If you had to work it by easier to harder, what would your list look like?
