Yes, my point is that op_return isn’t increasing the amount of arbitrary data you can put in a block. You have always been able to put arbitrary data in a block. Increasing op_return just increases the amount of arbitrary data you can store using one method.

The joke of the meme is that Bitcoiners are freaking out about arbitrary data being stored in op_return but aren’t complaining about the Bitcoin white paper being stored in op_checkmultisig.
