I think these "cushy" big tech jobs are based on a different kind of work than what these women do.
I've mostly worked at mature corporations, but from what I understand the basic deal at a start-up is you work insane hours for a year or two and then if the thing goes well you get some sort of stock options and can retire or at least take a few years off. All of the food and amusements are sugar-coating to help make that bitter pill go down for talented engineers. As these companies grow, however, their administrative staff (HR) also grows and you get a lot of people who aren't making that deal but reap (some of) the rewards.
If you're putting in serious work all day and then take an hour to go play arcade games or whatever - and then come back and work another four hours, it makes a lot of sense to have arcade games.
If you're "working" a six hour day, most of which is chatting on zoom, then these perks don't make much sense.
