But doesn't it make sense for them? At least allying with the "globohomo west" means they can continue to exist under western free speech laws, and perhaps grow.

Most countries that aren't the US barely have free speech, even the UK. They just recently got rid of their blasphemy laws, and only when Muslims started using it against them.
Most countries, at minimum, have government mandated ratings for movies/games/music. The US, it's just voluntary, because we're a free country. And almost every country has a state religion, except us and a few others (France?).
