By 2026 the captive breeding of lions and other predators will be fazed out in South Africa.
That’s a win for wildlife 💜🦁

Is it though? Is it because the wild populations are restored or due to green peace types who don't understand how captive breeding helps ensure species survival?
Or is it to stop the exportation of animals in captivity?
Because 2 of those yea, one not so much.
These captive breeding are offering canned hunting.
It’s not about ensuring species survival it’s about money and allowing them to hunt in enclosed spaces, it’s awful and horrific.
not saying that I know the details of their operations but if the "canned hunting" finances the breeding and releasing of strong genetic stock, doesn't that help the population overall?
hopefully you're right though, almost always good to see wildlife do better than before
It does not.
Canned hunting is just that, hunting in an enclosed area with no escape whatsoever for the animal and they are all never released into the wild. They are all killed off in this way.
