I'll probably still give it a go. In a way I almost wouldn't want that camp maddness without Bruce Campbell doing his thing.

Did you see the reboot? It was a lot more like that. But I will say I liked rise way better than the reboot which kind of turned me off.
But at the same time to play devil's advocate if you read my live notes I considered that maybe it was having seen the reboot and already getting used to the fact the comedy was gone that might've prepared me for rise which might be why I was more ok with it🤷🏽
Take it all with a grain of salt. And my advice always is go see it yourself and make your own opinion.
Then we can discuss after🤷🏽
I did not watch the reboot yet. I have a tendency to watch movies like, 5 years or more too late 😂 I also think I subconsciously avoid reboots or reimaginings now, a lot of the time it just feels unnecessary. Although a tonal change from the humor to something a little darker might be cool.
It's kind of like I could watch the reboot/prequel to The Thing, which did have some cool ties to the original, but ultimately just left me wanting to rewatch the 1982 version.
I did however watch all of Ash vs. Evil Dead which I found pretty delightful.
Probably unpopular opinion but that's what I liked about the thing remake/prequel🤷🏽
When it came out I hadn't seen the thing. So I rented it from blockbuster then went and saw the new one.
First.
It was great because that was my first experience watching the thing which is a great film.
Second I went in thinking ok is it going to be different? Or are they going for a shot for shot thing like psycho with Vince vahn"
Then the thing went on and it was totally different and I was like what's happening????
And only at the end did I realize this happened before the original and I read like OH SHIT THOSE WERE THE BODIES AND SUCH!
And that read like a big brain canon moment.
I saw The Thing From Another World (1951), but I’m not sure that’s the original you’re referring to.
