How is it similar vs different from #nostr?
Completely different. It’s just a link to Cashapp. Or Patreon. Neither of which I remember setting up (and I haven’t had patreon in years).
It’s merely a little chiclet on the profile page. Probably no one knows it’s there, tipping isn’t baked in as an encouraged behavior, and no amount is suggested. Since it pulls up Cashapp, people will think in denominations of dollars, I think, rather than sats or the zaps (micro tips we have here).
So it’s just kinda…there.
You’ve been able to tip using lightning for years on dedbird. They just kinda kept it hidden. It’s only been available on mobile and you have to go to a person’s profile. Also, they made it shittier after Jack left. Before tipping all happened in app. Now they just redirect you to Strike’s tipping page.
