Ever since I started this amazing journey there is one little thing I haven't been able to do just yet, and that is to orange-pill the wife.
I try not to, but more often than not I find myself rambling and rambling about the problems of a centralised society and rampant inflation. Well yesterday I got a bit of support, courtesy of her online broker 😁.
Because she is so risk-averse, ever since she started generating an income she has only bought 1(!) ETF (MSCI World if you're interested to know which one).
Everything was good and fine until yesterday when she saw a relatively big transaction on her account. After investigating, it turns out this 1 ETF was to be "merged" (oh the irony) to another one. What this meant for my wife was automatically selling all of her ETF shares so that the new ones could be bought.
As you can probably expect, some juicy capital gains were triggered. My wife couldn't believe it. There really is nothing she can do but pay those taxes.
After the dust settled I couldn't resist saying "you know, this cannot happen if you hold Bitcoin". To which she answered: "I know". One can only hope
