I don't understand this entire debate. All computer logic is integer-based.

1224 satoshis is the same number as 0.00001224 Bitcoin. That's just two different formats for writing it, the same way that $10.25 is the same as 1025¢

And it's good to have a larger-number style and a smaller-number style, as humans struggle to read long numbers.

I don't know for sure, but because the protocol is actually based on sats, they want to rename it to bitcoin.

It sounds retarded, to me.

Instead of saying "1.45 Bitcoin", you'd have to say "145000000 sats".

the rationale is probably based on the fact that you'd rarely need to use such a big number.

you could also use 145e+6 😂

I think the rationale is to do away with sats entirely and call the smallest unit a bitcoin.
