The year is 2023. The best way to read an ebook synced across devices without using amazon is still installing all of calibre on a server, even a headless one. or using some jank docker container running all of calibre in it. Ridiculous, maybe I need to make my own ebook reader.

One time when i was in middle school I had a friend try to pull that off in the computer lab. He was printing all of the DnD 3e rulebook and got caught. He was not able to finish printing it all :(. Now that I think about it, he probably pirated it on the school network too lol.
