I don't care if nostr ever grows big. I hope it'll enable as many people as possible to escape the "look into an orb for an eye scan before publishing anything" future we're headed to but if it comes down to it, I'm here for the weird people.

I don't care if you're a whatever maximalist, who you fuck, if you only eat meat or if you're raw vegan. If you're on nostr, you care about freedom. Of speech, of gathering, of letting other people do their stuff.

To me, that's all that counts. Stay weird, people.

🍻 πŸ‘ ✌️ ... me too... I came for the weird ones...

I like Nostr because you can keep track of the network - X has an oceanic volume of content which means it's overwhelming and brain-melting. Even if only 1% of the content on X is valuable the network is still so vast that you couldn't find the bounds of it. And while other social media, like FB, might be larger, they are mostly walled gardens whereas X is open by design. This adds to the feeling of overwhelm (although it's a good thing from the perspective of search and interaction).

As for what's happening to the big platforms, yes, they are doing their best to make them unusable. Look at "safety" laws recently passed in the UK, but also similar things done under the guise of "protect the children" in many US states. The big platforms, at this rate, do not have a bright future.
