#Rambo was almost cast with Kirk Douglas playing the role of Col Sam Troutman, and Dustin Hoffman playing the role of John Rambo.

If memory serves, one of the rumors is Douglas turned down the role because he wanted Rambo to kill himself, as he does in a draft of the script.
There’s an alternate ending where he dies as well I think. You’ll be able to correct me I’m sure.
🎯 The test audience hated the original ending. That would have sent a horrible message to vets. Stallone's rewrite was on point.
And allowed for an entire franchise to be built.
