Can I ask why? The coup inyanmar devastated me for about 18 months.
Sure, to clarify I think what happened in Myanmar is a fucking disaster and I feel for the people there.
I love this clip because it's supremely ironic but also captures the situation perfectly. She's a regular person going about her daily dance routine while her future is stolen behind her. I think it brings out the absurdity of it all, the disconnect between the coup actors and regular people.
The song is about standing up to a bully, which is also on point. The whole thing is a symbol of defiance, she refuses to stop her dance routine even though there's a fucking military coup happening behind her.
And to round it all off, everything that happens in the video is perfectly timed and on cue with respect to her moves and the music. When they enter the frame she almost gets a bit sassy, as if to convey "what are you going to do about it"?
Maybe I'm over thinking it, but this is art, it moves me.
I guess I'm probably still a bit too sensitive to it. I never enjoyed the clip, it's just a reminder of how much my friends are still suffering in an unjust situation that I can't do anything about.
That's fair, I have no personal connection so it doesn't hold the same meaning for me.
