What do relays do, as in what should happen if I add or remove relays

Relays are where stuff is stored. If you add more relays you may find more users that only post to that relay and not your original. The cost of adding more is more data used when pulling from multiple sources.
Relays are how you find other people’s content and how they find yours. In order to connect with others, you need some of your relay list to overlap with theirs.
Faster relays provide a better experience, obviously. That’s where paid relays come in. Because they’re paid, they have fewer users and funds to pay for proper infrastructure. They potentially can have less spam. When we say paid, we’re talking 1,000-10,000 sats, which is upwards of $3 USD. Not much.
