Yes. Eye strain. And repeated probably results in migraines and worse.

we stare at phones 10+ hours a day on a regular, gonna be that on roids

A phone is probably at least 6 inches from your face. VR headset is like right on your eyeballs

Probably more about not changing your focus distance. The recommended practice is for every 20 minutes you spend looking at something close up spend 20 seconds looking at something 20 feet away
