Normally, when I bring wares home from the studio, I wrap them gently and place them carefully in a box or bag so nothing hard is touching them in the car. But I put this travel mug in the cup holder as proof of concept. Not only did it fit perfectly, but the lid didn’t even rattle at all except when I hit a pothole and a speed bump.

I honestly had a really hard time stopping myself staring at it yesterday. It came out absolutely perfect. Now, I’m inspired to make more salmon scenes!

Salmon are amazing travelers, migrating hundreds of miles across radically different environments, from river headwaters to salty ocean and back. I carved pink salmon on my first travel mug as a joyful reminder that you can always return home again, even if things are different, and as a hope for your safe travels.
