With AI, the middle tier of managers and creators will be wiped out. You will either need to be genius or have a trade (like plumbing). Likely, you will need both. Prepare accordingly.

It's the same with engineers. The best engineers are now super-engineers and everyone else can leave the building.

Every software engineer needs to also care about infrastructure, too. That's a big change: everyone goes full-stack.

Exactly. A similar point was made at a meeting I was at yesterday. Many companies need only be a founder of one, now.

Yeah, but that'll eventually crush you, as you try to scale up.

By that time you won’t matter any longer.

What is your ETA for this to become the norm? Are you doing any specific preparation?

I’m echoing what I heard at a meeting yesterday and it is confirming a gut-feeling I have been feeling. I think people are starting to realize this involuntarily, especially this community where I have been seeing lots of back-to-basics, DIY, handmade stuff. Plus, I’ve become aware of a futures report that predicts in the next decade that a large segment of the population might be reduced to foraging for food and shelter.

The foraging piece seemed really strange to me. 🇨🇦

Yeah, me too.

Interesting thoughts! I have had hints of the “gut-feeling” myself. I have started a personal project where I am putting together an emergency preparedness stockpile. While I have the traditional natural disaster scenario in the forefront, I am also reminded of the Covid crisis and how my local community reacted to stockpiling. Bit of a shit show really. I am using 20lt buckets with lids as the building blocks. I have a family of 5 to organise for. I have used ChatGPT to brainstorm and plan. Great experience so far.
