I don’t even understand all this - what’s the difference between the “fediverse” and mastodon?
And there’s just one bridge between nostr and the other things?

I don't know how to fully answer this question, but I think Mastadon is roughly equivalent to a Nostr client, where it is one option for interacting with Fediverse.

Fediverse is like nostr, a bunch of independent servers talking together. Fediverse is light years ahead in the user experience and features
Alex made a bridge so nostr and fedi can talk together but you need to add the relay
So I think I added the relay but I can’t tell what it’s done or added
On global you may see users with @mostr.pub
What does that mean
Mostr.pub is the bridges domain
This shit is never gonna work because it’s two goddamn complicated
It happened to the fediverse too. Users hate free speech and the experience and leave quickly
And remember that the user experience is better and simpler there
Two questions then. What are the clients for the fediverse, and why are people using nostr instead of fediverse?
