Why are banks closed on weekends and holidays?

Yes also thinking about this

It is so hard to live global and transact cross-jurisdiction cross-timezone now.

We can see how antiquated parts of the world are, with #Bitcoin we can see that money. It will be a wild next 30 years

yes the best is yet to come :)

and why do they close at 5? So that people need to use up their holidays if they need to arrange something in person…

also prolly cultural holdover from Western Sabbath, Mass etc

Very true. On the seventh day God rested. This echos through to today, where most businesses, schools, etc, will close “normal” operations to let people rest. We even call it the “Weekend” as en event to look forward to resting from work

thankful for time to rest

Don't know about stock market, but futures market probably closes on weekends so farmers can take a break

Right. Humanity.

How will stock market be replicated with Bitcoin or will it?

I also slightly worry about 24/7 work cycle we might impose on ourselves.

Because traders work across time zones, the forex market is open 24 hours a day, five days a week.

People I’m sure will still own parts of companies, and want a way to liquidate their ownership easily. It does seem decidedly old school to ever close though doesn’t it. Also - DIY unfriendly.
