Your post it pushing for the using of the equivalent of a real life bank for crypto. You don't have access to your private key. Do you bitcoin guys even actually care about crypto and doing it right?
Your definition of βdoing it rightβ isnβt mines, this is the way we onboard users and it works, they start with custodial LN wallet and then learn about self custody cold wallets along their journey depending how deep they wanna go down the hole, options allow for less friction to onboard. If you tell someone they can ONLY use bitcoin or monero if they run their own node and have their own cold wallet the moment you introduce it to them and they canβt even interact with it until theyβve spent 100s of USD in order to set themselves up, youβve lost them.
