What Are You Leaving Behind?

Has anyone else thought about what they’re truly leaving behind for their children? If you weren’t here tomorrow, how would they learn from you without your presence?

Maybe it’s my own family history that’s made me reflect on this more deeply. Since the New Year of 2022, I’ve kept a Google Sheet—a running journal of thoughts, investment ideas, and reflections. It’s not just for me to review and refine over time, but also a historical document my family can look back on one day. Ideally, I hope to sit down with my kids in the future and walk through it together.

Bitcoin has changed my time preference, making me think long-term, not just for myself but for the generations ahead.

I’m curious—have any fellow Bitcoiners done something similar? How do you ensure your knowledge and experiences don’t get lost with time?

I’ve definitely thought about how to secure our family’s future and build something that lasts longer than just my generation and my children’s. Bitcoin is the brighter future that allows us to do that.

I think it is the responsibility (and should be the desire) of parents to provide their children with the tools to succeed.

Having an asset that grows with them and is able to jumpstart their adulthood will give them a great start. Our goal as parents is to create the desire to work hard despite knowing that their future is set financially.

I’ve known too many kids growing up that screwed around all their childhood and early adult years because they knew they had a sizable inheritance.
