Venerable Onufrie, a humble hermit, dwelt in the forests near Vorona Monastery, Romania. He lived in extreme austerity, battling cold and hunger. Once, a local shepherd found him nearly frozen. Taking pity, the shepherd offered him food and warmth, but Onufrie, fearing comfort, refused, saying his reward was in Heaven. He preferred hardship to earthly ease, dedicating himself to unceasing prayer and repentance. His strength came from unwavering faith, and his example drew others to seek solace and guidance.

Holy Onufrie, pray that we find strength in hardship and seek heavenly treasures above earthly comforts.
