I understand there are serious trust tradeoffs using cashu, but goddamn is the onboarding 1000% easier than lightning.

Don't trust, verify.

Yes, I must always trustlessly verify, even if I'm claiming 69 eNuts to zap a dick or fart joke.

yup

"Oh you mean I just *receive it*? I don't have to set up some weird address or issue you an invoice? I just install this app and scan a qr code and it's mine?"

If you're both on the same mint, you don't even have to have a conversation about fees.

nostr:npub1dx5q2el8nd4eh3eg9t2e25fd7zuqg7zxz6ldkc3uzgh66ss2yc6st288sj is a really good app and you can also get PWA of cashu.

I love ecash, privacy is neat

But the funny part is that it’s reliant on lightning to peg in and out

This is likely where lightning is going. Highly technical operators providing the rails between layer 3 on and off ramps and collecting fees for their trouble.

There will be a demand for the plebs who want to self custody on lightning but the fees, channel management and liquidity asks might push plebs towards ecash and other projects
