I can think of 2 mutually exclusive reasons this might not be true:

1) it would be for trivial amounts so it would obviously just be fun and very much in the open source spirit.

2) it wouldn’t be trivial, but you’d see the interaction stats with people you’d have to assume had already decrypted it so there is a bit of a quality signal there, albeit shrouded in intrigue.

All valid arguments, but for me it still feels like a paywall.

It’s a great Idea for news services, but I’m not sure if this is really a good use case for nostr.
