The US had a Department of War for 150+ years and it wasn’t until the post WW2 PR and posturing that we changed it to Defense.
Which was exactly when we began our most interventionist and outwardly hostile period of history.
I don’t think the word “War” is the problem here
It would be cool if we could just end all funding for wars like bitcoiners claim to want. If that’s what the department does, then I’m fine with the name change. But I don’t think that’s what’s going to happen.
Yeah it’s unlikely at best, but less PR and doublespeak is probably a good thing.
And at least calling it what it is might make people think twice about the Department of War budget
But the most likely scenario is it will likely just rile NPCs up and not have any net benefits
It’s just going to be the same grift with a new label.
