Hitting my nephews U18 game tonight. Big year for him for the upcoming HS season.

You’ll appreciate this.

In his last game he played like shit. And then said after that “maybe it’s the new skates”.

His “old ones” are only 2 years old & I got them for him.

YOU NEVER ABANDON YOUR TRUSTED SKATES. EVER. UNTIL THEY DIE ON THEIR OWN.

He listened to my sister that a new pair would be great for him.

Back to the old reliable tonight & I expect magic. Women know shit about hockey. Don’t listen to em even if they’re your mom who happens to be my sister in this case.

Yeah, lesson 1: don't listen to your mom's advice about hockey.

Lesson 2: if your dad ain't an athlete, don't listen to him either.

My last pair of skates completely fell apart. I was at the end of a lesson, skated to a rebound and did a tight turn, the cowling broke off my skate boot.

Same with my last pair and that’s exactly what I told him. When things start to disengage, new is fine. Until then, old reliable should be respected. Cared for even, talked to etc.

He lost his dad in 2013, tragic car accident. My sister plays both roles but I do my part.

He feels shame. He knows he let me down with that decision. He’s back on the straight & narrow 😂

You're a top notch uncle, respect 🫡
