You can tell Newsweek jumped on this one, as a politically correct opportunity to appear balanced. Planned Barrenhood’s reasoning is specious. More likely, the law would result in mandatory or pressured abortions for mothers under 18, as all sex below that age would be deemed rape, but that is somewhat beside the point. This is just one more act to attack families and delay marriage, to the point where it never happens at all.

Marriage should be allowed at any age with parental consent. There is no reason for a girl not to be married early to a man her parents judge will treat her right for the rest of her life. She will grow up loving him, and no more think to divorce him than to disown her mother and father.
