Did they ever have morals?

They developed many deep moral systems.

For example, during the initial rise of Christianity, the conservatives at the time thought that their old pegan beliefs were more moral than the extremist Christians and longed for a return to the days of the youth studying the moral stories of Saturn and the like.

The man of every house upon his death would have a wax mold of his face made. It would be hung up on the wall next to his ancestors near the dinner table.

During evening meals the family would tell stories of each face. What their job was, their accomplishment, what mistakes were made that the youth could avoid.

How much of the struggles of your father and grandfather could you speak on? They could easily go 5, and even more generations back. A system whereby each family could iterate on itself. Growing wiser with each generation

It was a very family oriented culture, once upon a time.

Until the orgies, perversions and the growing divide between itself and other cultures became more mainstream.
