One thing that hurts Christianity is all the forced soft emotions and feminine "show love".
Forced emotional displays are fake and insecure and it's obvious to onlookers that it's fake and insecure.
It is better to default to a kind, calm, and genuine seriousness than to constantly act "moved" in such a way that debases your faith.

It's extremely widespread.
I think "loving your neighbor" is being shallowly interpreted as providing an over the top show affection and comfort as opposed to simply regarding them as another valuable human that should be taken seriously and not exploited.
