I agree with the analysis, but it lacks a premise: Nostr is not just social and funny.

I doubt this logo would work well in contexts such as finance, healthcare, B2B.

There is a reason why systems that aim to be future proof, usually choose simple and abstract marks (Google, Facebook, now Twitter, etc).

True, but those apps will have their own logos?

Nostr at its core is notes. And we transmit the notes in social context.

Google Twitter Facebook are all companies. It makes sense for them to have abstract logos for different products.

Nostr is not a company and doesn’t need an abstract logo because companies who build on nostr have their own logos.

Would you "connect with nostr" clicking an ostrich to download your medical exams or sign a contract?

Make Nostr recognizable through the whole network to signal the login and promote the brand is the only reason we need a logo.

Hmm yeah something to consider. I would say in that case just don’t put the logo on the button for a more “serious” app.

The logo imo is needed for marketing to outsiders

If you remove the logo in such context you will indeed waste free marketing, by big players that will put a lot of money to promote their services.

I don’t think it’s as big of a deal to connect with a bird. Plenty of apps used Twitter auth.
