Hi it’s very beginner’s question.
I cannot see all followers if I don’t add standard relays because #Nostr load followers by using those relays?
Even I add nostr.wine? 🍷

It’s a question I see a lot and it’s very different than how we expect it to work coming from traditional.
When you try to get your “followers” on nostr, your client queries all the relays you are connected to and aggregates the responses. Some clients do this better than others. For users with lots of followers, forcing your client to calculate the number multiple times will often return wildly different results. If a popular relay goes down for a few hours, many will see their follower counts change significantly.
In addition, different relays have different limits on the amount of data they will return to you when you make a request. If you have more followers then they return records, you could miss out on many from that delay.
My takeaway is that it’s not a very useful metric on nostr and as long as you are reaching the same relays, your followers are reading your content.
With all that being said, we just made an increase to our max limit so try again and you should see a higher amount than before (simply returning more data that was already there).
Lastly, ignore the number it’s meaningless garbage :)
Apologies if this is full of typos my brain is melted from a day of bug smashing.
Hi I would like ask you very beginning question again about nostr.wine🍷
My posts appears to be for those who only added the initial relays, but I can't see those members' posts in order to prevent from spam posts, am I correct?
With broadcast enabled, your event is automatically re-broadcasted to the listed public relays when you post.
When you load your global feed, we only load content from your follows+their follows.
When you click anything else (like a note or someone’s profile) we load EVERYTHING we have unfiltered from the archive node. This should include replies and meta data from people who are not on common paid relays. You shouldn’t be missing (much) content and you’re also broadcasting to the world!
Question. Both orangepill and eden are in the read list of the filter one. But not in the broadcast? Should you have them also added or will the filter be enough to read and broadcast to those 2?
The filter cannot guarantee writing to paid relays since they will only accept them from a pubkey whitelist.
The only reason they are included on the read list is they were default relays on some clients so they have had more users.
We think paid relays should be more or less completely separate from filter long term.
You think there are performance issues if you have them both on read in your relay list?
Nope, no read delays to be had. We read from brb.io for example, which drops connections constantly and is extremely slow. We may miss events from there when that happens, but no lag.
The aggregator relay streams those events without waiting for anything in particular.
If one of them gets slow and stops sending us events we just wait on that one and continue processing the rest in real time.
I see, I almost understood.

Loading posts by not only my follows but also their follows can give me new encounters.
Sounds very nice 😊
