Trump is reportedly cooking up an executive order to delay the sale-or-ban law on TikTok for 60-90 days.

Trump has made it clear he doesn’t want TikTok gone—he loves the app, where his videos have racked up nearly 4 billion views; he even met TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew at Mar-a-Lago last month.

Legal experts aren’t impressed, and one even likened the executive order to “a press release on fancy paper” since it wouldn’t override a bipartisan law that demands TikTok’s sale by Jan. 19.

ByteDance has doubled down on its refusal to sell, leaving few realistic options.

Is TikTok a bargaining chip for bigger U.S.-China trade negotiations? Maybe.

For now, Trump’s goal is clear: paint himself as the ultimate dealmaker he is and take a victory lap on the platform he loves.
