I know muun is a shitcoin so I don’t use it anymore but I did get seed words when I opened my wallet with them

No you didn’t. You got a PDF with some nonstandard backup codes that will be a pain in the ass to deal with if you need to recover to another wallet.

Daniel, give the poor Muun folks a break. You really have it out for them 😂

It’s out of love. 🧡

FWIW, from a pure UX standpoint, I’ve found Muun to be the easiest to use for meatspace transactions

Smoke and mirrors, buddy.

I thought #[1] recommended muun wallet?

It’s true, he has.

He also said this last year:

“when you pay or receive via lightning on muun they do an onchain swap, so you pay onchain fees, right now onchain fees are low so it is a decent tradeoff, if fees rise then it wont be, they are planning on releasing a major update that will scale better if/when fees rise”

Now that we’re in what is probably a long-term high-fee environment, I would like to hear if his opinions have changed.

I have a muun wallet with funds. Should I move?

I personally would, I just don’t have a lot of use for that app.

Will be moving funds

Just be aware of the fees you might be charged right now, because Muun uses an on-chain gimmick to make its Lightning feature work. You might have to wait for an opening when there’s a drop.

Is it still possible to authomatically open a channel when paying from Muun to a Lightning node wallet?

I use Muun to onboard onto Lightning and it works great. Excellent BTC only wallet. Best part is they treat bitcoin as bitcoin as it recognizes both on chain and lightning in the same balance.

Muun was a centralized wallet/service for onboarding Bitcoiners onto the LN. it has evolved into an open source project that sim to simply and integrate on chain and Lightning into one seem less interface. There is an open source backup recovery tool that is essential should Muun “disappear”. Assuming you run your own node with Lightning, you can easily recover all funds with the recovery backup tool. This takes the Casa implementation to a whole new level for mass adoption. Casa has a 2 of 3 multi sig where you hold 2. Muun has output descriptors that cover both on chain and LN with a 2 of 2 multisig where you have both and Muun has 1. Pretty awesome IMO and will take mass adoption to a whole new level.
