What is the deal with https://ostrich.work/ and https://github.com/erskingardner/nips/blob/new-event-for-classifieds/402.md?

The protocol is open, but the website charges money in order to publish a job ad. Is it using a special relay that has the purpose of providing a curated nice feed of ads and it only reads from that? That would be great.

I think good clients can charge to create the same events. Users can always do it for free, but a premium experience is welcome. Imagine a company trying to keep up 1000s of job positions. they need extra tools and are happy to pay for it.

That’s my feeling too. The protocols open, totally fine for others to build different interfaces.

Ideally the app will provide value in many ways, most of them still in the future (I only started on this app this week). Right now the payment is there to both suppress spam and make sure people are posting real jobs.

I am going to stand up a relay for this use case too though.

But if I publish ads through other means they will still show up there?

Yeah. But I’m filtering on a few hashtag tags. Eg “work”, “jobs”, and a few others to make sure I wasn’t getting clashes, especially since the nip is classified and not jobs specifically.

yeah, the value is not so much on the creation of the event, there is zero moat there, but on the management of the candidate pipeline.

as someone who had a startup in the ATS (applicant tracking system) world 10+ years ago, those user-seats go for top-$.
