I observe my cats looking outside the window, excited and involved.

When I open the windows, they look, hear some strange noise, and run away.

I am the owner of my cats; I feed them and give them a window to look at the outside world from the perspective I want.

I have started to notice another animal, becoming increasingly fearful, looking at the glass all the time but unable to take action to interact with the outside world.
