I'll raise you. If you are a bitcoiner using anything realted to spotify, weak. Read the "Mood Machine" and if you are still using spotify after that... I don't know what to say.

You got a link to a PDF or audio book by chance?

Ah sadly no.

The thing I found interesting about all the passages you highlighted in the Mood Machine is they're not isolated to Spotify. Any platform, even a 'v4v' platform is at risk of becoming the next Spotify and adopting their mindset. It's the growth and metrics mindset, and it's hard to stay true to one's values the larger one grows, and when you have investors that expect their profit.

I can't slip things by you nostr:nprofile1qqszxyp33y6kea7ghsymhz6rrlp7w859tqkg7a2mnmskqgpunsv7gqcpp4mhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mqpz3mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduq3wamnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwvehh2mn5v95kutnxd5mgakvh 🤣

Yeah that was intentional. Most people even now can't imagine that Spotify does this evil things. "It's just music" was a theme of this book.

But spotify realized along the way they tapped in to something, through their data collection they found a manipulation and then massively exploited it without many knowing.

It's easier to hate on the fiat Spotify -- harder to look at ourselves and ask sometimes "are we doing the same?"

VCs backed companies exist here, as do loaded non profits picking and choosing projects that fit their own world view.

So yeah, Spotify is a cautionary tale for sure.
