I find it funny these post about how freeing it is to delete Instagram, X, etc. The funny thing is people don't realize the same feeling will happen if they quit and delete Nostr. Only the protocol is different here. This is just as much social media as all the others. People seem to have trouble realizing this with Nostr though. It's ironic.

Don't get me wrong. I love it here! Just speaking the truth.

I noticed at the beginning I was trading one addiction for another.

But it has felt different, and I check Damus twice a day or less on average so it’s a small victory for me.

Right. This what I noticed. I got off social media years ago because how gross it felt. I slowly notice getting the same feeling creeping here. It didnt feel this way months ago. Maybe the growing user numbers.

It’s better dialogue for sure.

It is. This is true.

I'd argue that the tone of discourse is much better over here, at least for now. That will probably change if it grows more popular.

Yes its much better over here. I feel the feeling other social medias made me feel is slowly creeping up here though. Noticing the same patterns here.

I think that's a fair statement, because social media of any stripe takes you away from what's 'real.'

But even so, there is more value and goodwill on nostr than any other social media trough out there, and I feel like that's where people are coming from when they opine about the dumpsterfire that is X.

Absolutely agree with you. Its way better here. For me im not coming from X, or Insta, etc. So I dont notice that difference as much. Im noticing how much like social media this is like all the others. It might be better compared to others sure. But for someone like me who isnt used to social media, I see Nostr as having the same issue people complained about X having. Drama, privacy issues, doxxing, bias, echo chamber, etc. I especially notice a difference between Nostr 6 months ago vs now. Its changed to be more similar to what we complained about leaving.

For sure. More adoption means more dilution. As people flow into Nostr, there is a need for people to manage their 'circle' to maintain the environment they enjoyed at the beginning.

Or maybe it's not possible and this is the natural progression of social media regardless of platform or protocol.

Thanks for pointing this out. I have been trying to fine tune my follows and settings to achieve this. Starting with a new account might be the solution.

If you do start a new account, let me know and I'll follow πŸ€™

Thanks bro. πŸ€™

funny how people leave a place for sucking only to find they brought themselves with them.

Ahaha true. Reminds me of complaining of traffic while contributing to it. Too funny. 🀣
