You can switch to another app (like #Primal here) that does work:

I noticed problems with amethyst recently also. I am almost exclusively on primal now. Any idea what's going on?

I added a bunch of relays on Coracle recently (which makes it easy to do that, I'm up to 91 now! 😆), and ever since Amethyst has been somewhat slower to load images and videos for me. But things seem to work fine for me on other apps.

That's probably way more relays than you need. It just leads to downloading a lot of duplicate notes and wasted bandwidth. I run 9 total and don't seem to miss any notes.

Videos load slowly over TOR.

Amethyst has TOR built in, Primal doesn't.

Disable TOR for videos in Amethyst and they'll load good.

Also, the Primal media server used to block TOR connections, but it seems to be working lately. Maybe the Primal media server is still a bit wonky with TOR connections.

I've been using TOR on Amethyst for a while and my media loading was never this slow before. Do you think my adding a lot more relays could be the problem?
