Can anyone please point me in the direction of a write-up on the design of bitcoin mining ⛏️ specific ASIC hardware?

I'm very curious about whether and how massively parallel processing might be applicable to the process...

Don't think it applies.

The chips vibrate and hashes are submitted at the apex of each vibration. There's no way to simulate that with software. Requires brute force energy.

Have you ever seen / heard / felt an asic miner?

The chips vibrate trillions of times per sec, the apex of each vibration submits a hash.

That's why they create so much heat.

Vibrating silicon gets hot AF.
